On Saturday we had our all day crop and this time we had a shop provided by MAKE THE MOMENT LAST. Jackie brought along the most wonderful stash that made us all want to drool and then stroke it. I think we all spent too much money. Here are a few photos of the shop and the fab Jackie.

This month my class was a little house (i got the templete from Stampington & Co website). It is just so cute made up and you can make all sorts of different ones.
Below you can see the houses that i made and a few that were made by the girls on saturday.

HAND DRAWN LETTERING

This is exactly what it says, a drawing and colouring-in class, so a very basic kit is needed.
Pencil (hb or softer)
Rubber (ESSENTIAL)
Ruler
Black fine-line pen
Colouring-in stuff (pencil crayons, watercolour pencils, felt tips, gel pens, paint ANYTHING!!)
I will provide white cardstock squares to try out the letters, but if you fancy drawing on coloured, or water-colour paper or old socks, bring your own!!

If you have a layout that needs a big word title - eg "Summer" "Snow", or a name, or even one BIG word and some smaller ones, bring it , and we'll see what we can do!

Here's a photo of my Surf's Up LO as requested by Jan :)

I sponged white acrylic paint on the title cardstock, the letters were clear freebies from SI mag which I painted on the back with white acrylic.

LAYOUT CLASS UPDATE

One of the layouts involves sticking the photos down and then applying them to the page. To do this you need acid/lignin free paper or cardstock, BUT IT WON'T BE SEEN! Here is the chance to get rid of those sheets of patterned paper you bought by mistake. (I used Asda cardstock - because I NEVER make mistakes!! - because I had a sheet on my desk and was too lazy to move!!)
12 x the height of your photos. Mine were 3inch, but there's no rule!!

LAYOUT CLASS

There will be a sketch layout, but I am bringing several ideas for multi-photo layouts. You will need LOTS of photos. One layout features EIGHT square 3x3 photos, one a mixture of shapes and sizes, one needs images that are taller than they are wide, but actual size isn't critical. Cardstock, patterned paper, and any embellishments you like. Emphasis is on the placement of the photos - the rest is personal choice.

This time its a fun class that i think you will enjoy.
A FULL KIT will be provided.
Yes you did hear right the only things you will need to bring are the following

Paper trimmer
Scissors
Ink pads
Embellishments
Adhesive
Very narrow double sided tape

Here is a little peek of it. You may want to add brads and flowers and thinks like that. I'm not giving you any more than that as it needs to be a surprise. The paper is Basic Grey Stella Ruby which will be in the kit. Here you can also see the kit (Patterned paper will be different)

This is the file that is going to be used as the technique file at the next Saturday crop. It is from Paperchase and costs just under £4. It is pictured open here and ready to alter. It does have a black elastic tie to hold it closed (not pictured) which can be taken off to decorate.

As i like to teach techniques at my crops i know that you need somewhere to keep the handouts so you have an on going resource.
So I am planning on a Technique File.
The File I have in mind comes from paperchase and costs £4. It is plain brown so it can be altered anyway you like.
If you are coming to the next crop and would like to have one of these beauties i am more than happy to go and buy them. For this you will need to send me the payment first. Or with in the next couple of days i will post a photo of the one that i have and you can go and get it yourself.
I will be making the most of this every crop

As the first crop was a success I have booked crops for the rest of the year. These will be bi-monthly as we all have other crops that we want to go to as well. I now have two rooms for us to use (not sure of the size of the second room).

BETH’S CROP - 3^rd MARCH 2007

Layout Class by Jan Palmer

This is a sketch-based layout class designed to be a quick and easy, but effective, way of getting photos into albums.

You will need

One 5 x7 photograph, landscape or portrait

2 sheets of toning/contrasting cardstock

Several pieces of patterned paper – they must be 12 in long, but you can use part-sheets.

Creative Memories square maker if you have one!

Other embellishments you wish to use, but remember the emphasis here is on Quick and Easy!!

Mount your photo onto cardstock and place on the background. Cut 12 in strips from several patterned papers and layer them down the RHS. Cut squares from the patterned paper and place them under the photograph. See if you want to ink the edges of the patterned pieces – I always do! Allowing room at the top for your title, stick all these bits down.

Sort out how you want your journaling box to look – big, small, even two - and cut them from cardstock to match the mat

Add small embellishments to the squares, or replace them with flowers, or even tiny photos.Use ribbon or fibre instead of the paper strips.

Handwrite or type journaling. Stick journalling block(s) over the strips on the RHS

Use stickers, diecuts, stamps, chipboard for your title

The Minibook

So here it is my MINIBOOK. Within this book i have used at least four techniques. These are

The Tissue Technique
Masking Tape
Peeled Paint
Stab Binding

Each Page is different so there is a pocket page that has its own little book. A door page with a window so it hides a photo behind. A fold out page that can be used as a normal card (I saw this as a template on the stampington & company website). An Acetate page that was first taught to me by Kirsty Wiseman. An Envelope page that is used for tags and other memorabilia. Then lastly the back cover.

I enjoyed making this book and i hope that you like it as much as i do. I have no idea how much or how little of this is original but i do know that i have never seen a book like this before.
Instructions will be posted in the next few days.

Layout class

This is a sketch-based class, designed to get photos in albums in a quick and easy, but hopefully effective, way.
We are aiming to do the basics of several layouts. I am concentrating on "photos on pages" so titles and journalling will not be part of the class, though you should have time during the day to complete all your layouts.

This is what you will need FOR EACH LAYOUT

One 5 x 7 photo - landscape or portrait
2 sheets toning or contrasting cardstock
3 or 4 pieces of patterned paper - not full sheets, although some of them will need to be 12 inches long
Creative Memories square maker if you have one!

Optional extras

Inks/chalk ink
Small embellishments eg prima flowers
Ribbon/fibres

Remember the emphasis is on QUICK and EASY!
